We are just past the halfway point for 2019, yet already three 2020 Hyundai models have earned 5-Star Overall Vehicle Scores for Safety from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) as a part of the New Car Assessment Program (NCAP). This is the highest honor that the government crash test body awards.
The three models to have earned this safety distinction are the 2020 Hyundai Kona, the 2020 Hyundai Santa Fe, and the 2020 Hyundai Tucson, all three a part of the Hyundai SUV lineup.
Advanced Safety Features
All three of these Hyundai SUVs are available with new Hyundai SmartSense safety technologies, which helped these vehicles to perform exceptionally well in crash testing. Among these technologies are Forward Collision-Avoidance Assist (FCA), Lane Keeping Assist (LKA), and Driver Attention Warning (DAW). The Kona, Santa Fe, and Tucson are also available with Blind Spot Collision Warning (BCW) and Rear Cross Traffic Warning (RCCW).
“Driver safety is our top priority,” explained Mike O’Brien, vice president, Product, Corporate and Digital Planning, Hyundai Motor America. “From Hyundai SmartSense to now Rear Occupant Alert, we are always looking to implement the latest in safety technologies, in order to provide enhanced safety for all of our customers. The 5-Star Overall Safety Ratings from NHTSA and our recent IIHS Top Safety Pick/Top Safety Pick+ awards for our growing SUV lineup are a testament to our safety commitment and goal to obtain top-line safety ratings in all of our models.”
