At the 2017 Consumer Electronics Show, Hyundai revealed a super cool IONIQ Scooter concept that could be folded up and stored in the front door of the Hyundai IONIQ Electric. Meant as a concept study in urban mobility, the electric scooter seemed like a logical accompaniment for the new Hyundai EV. And then … nothing really happened.
Until now! CNET reported last month that Hyundai has filed a patent application for a “Folding Personal Mobility Vehicle.” The drawings contained within the application sure look a lot like the IONIQ Scooter, leading us to believe that maybe — just maybe — Hyundai will be offering this scooter to the people.
Easy Use & Charging
The IONIQ Scooter presented at CES 2017 is operable via a thumb switch on the handle and brakes by either scrolling down on the thumb switch or pressing a pad over the rear wheel with your foot. In addition to front and rear lights and an occupant sensor, the IONIQ Scooter is convenient in that it charges while stowed in the IONIQ Electric’s front door, ensuring that there’s always enough juice.
Will we be seeing this super cool scooter around Memphis soon? We certainly hope so. In the meantime, you can check out all that Hyundai has to offer at Gossett Mazda Hyundai Mitsubishi.
